Seahawks fans have been gloating to 49ers fans constantly since winning Super Bowl LX in their stadium, and this disparity adds even more fuel to their fire.
It’s worth noting that the 49ers defense played well at several points they had no right to this season. They held the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles to just 19 points on the road in the wild card round of the playoffs, and they made it to that point despite losing their best two defensive players in Nick Bosa and Fred Warner. Robert Saleh coached so well as their defensive coordinator, he earned his second shot at a head coaching job for the 2026 season with the Tennessee Titans. What they did in spite of their obstacles was undoubtedly impressive. The real shock of this graphic is just how much better the Seahawks were.
The Seahawks “Dark Side” defense is now being heralded as one of the best of the generation after winning the Lombardi Trophy, and receiving their overdue flowers. Lost in the glory is this ironic stat, that they outpaced their rival 49ers in sacks and interceptions at their own stadium, despite playing only 2 games to their eight in it. Add it to the list of remarkable ways to convey their dominance when discussing it for historical reasons.
