UCLA defeats Tennessee to open Amegy Bank College Baseball Series

No. 19 Tennessee (6-3) opened play in the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series on Friday at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

No. 2 UCLA (7-2) defeated the Vols, 12-5. Rankings reflect the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
Tegan Kuhns (1-1) started for Tennessee and pitched six innings. He totaled 10 strikeouts and 85 pitches, including 63 strikes, against 26 batters. Kuhns allowed six hits, zero walks and six runs (four earned).
Tennessee’s offense totaled seven hits, including one home run from Chris Newstrom. He started at second base and went 3-for-4, totaling one RBI, two runs, one home run and one triple.
Tyler Myatt (two), Henry Ford (one) and Stone Lawless (one) also recorded RBIs for Tennessee against the Bruins.
The Vols are joined by Arizona State, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, UCLA and Virginia Tech in the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series. Globe Life Field is home to the Texas Rangers in Major League Baseball.
Tennessee will next play Arizona State on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for noon EST (FloCollege).
