QB prospect Ty Simpson met with Jets, 'really loves' the team

One quarterback prospect ahead of the 2026 NFL draft is very interested in the New York Jets.
The hype around top quarterback prospects in this year's player pool starts and ends with Indiana's Fernando Mendoza. He's already the No. 1 pick but the Jets select at second overall behind the Las Vegas Raiders.

While Alabama QB Ty Simpson is likely not in play at the Jets' top selection, could New York be interested with their other first-round pick at No. 16 overall or in Round 2?
Time will tell once the draft rolls around, but the Jets know there is interest from the other side of the table.
From the combine last week, Simpson raved about the Jets and said he "really loves" the idea of playing with the organization.
"They're going to get the best Ty Simpson," he added.
Simpson had one year as Alabama's starter but led the Crimson Tide to the SEC Championship Game and the College Football Playoff. During that 2025 season, Simpson completed 64.5 percent of his passes for 3,567 passing yards with 28 touchdowns and five interceptions.
