Tamil Nadu, West Bengal get new governors ahead of polls

Governor CV Ananda Bose resigned on Thursday citing personal reasons and was replaced by Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi.
With Ravi being sent to West Bengal, Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was given additional charge of Tamil Nadu.
The changes came weeks ahead of the Assembly elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. It was also part of a wider reshuffle in nine states and Union Territories.
In a press release, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said that President Droupadi Murmu had on Thursday night appointed Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain (retired) as the new governor of Bihar. He will be taking over from Arif Mohammed Khan. Khan had been in the position since January 2025.
Taranjit Singh Sandhu, a retired diplomat and former ambassador to the United States, was appointed the new lieutenant governor of Delhi. After retiring from the Indian Foreign Service, Sandhu had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
He will replace Vinai Kumar Saxena, who was posted to Ladakh as lieutenant governor.
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader who briefly served as the deputy chief minister of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state in 2018, was appointed the new governor of Himachal Pradesh.
