Arne Slot will be buzzing as 'excellent' Liverpool ace is set to stay

Change is the only thing that anyone seems to talk about when Liverpool are involved.

The Anfield outfit spent over £450 million on new signings last summer and, ahead of the 2026-27 season, even more change is expected to be on the way.

Several players have already been concretely linked with an Anfield switch, but, without Champions League football to their name, it's unclear whether the Reds will have what it takes to entice the players that they need to join them.

Despite this, much like the rest of the Premier League, every other day a new player is being linked with a move with the futures of some Liverpool players also under question.

Granted, this is to be expected after the season that the Reds have had so far but, the future of one Liverpool player seems to finally be set in stone.

Liverpool will not be able to sign some of their transfer targets this summer

It's clear that Arne Slot needs to improve the performance levels of his attack as soon as possible.

Mohamed Salah has been a fraction of his former self and without the Egyptian King leading the way, the Reds have been left in quite a pickle.

This lack of form has resulted in three or four big-name wingers to be linked with an Anfield switch and now, according to an update from TEAMtalk, it seems like a transfer for three of those players is already off the table.

The report starts off by saying that Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola 'will not be available' to sign this summer.

Both Frenchman had been on the Reds' 'radar' for some time with Liverpool's recruitment department now 'intensifying' their search for new talent.

In fact, enquiries have even been made by Liverpool but both were shut down almost instantly.

Michael Olise is another player who has been frequently linked to Liverpool but, after he proved himself to be one of Bayern Munich's most important players over the last couple of seasons, there's no chance that Liverpool will sign him either.

Cody Gakpo will end up staying at Liverpool now that they have no options to replace him

Cody Gakpo's form has been just as bad as Salah's this season.

The duo have failed to live up to expectations which has caused transfer rumours to emerge about both players.

In Salah's case, it feels like there's only one way that things are headed and that's seeing the Egyptian King move on.

Next term, he'll only have one year left on his deal and, if Liverpool don't want to lose him for nothing, they'll need to move him on in summer.

Gakpo, on the other hand, has had less rumours shared about him but fans have made it more than clear how they thing about him, despite his "excellent" performances last term.

Since being moved onto the left wing after Luis Diaz's exit, the Dutchman has become a one trick pony where, no matter the situation, he always cuts in.

Of course, this is the way that Slot has things set up but, even when the former PSV man was used as a striker against Wolves on Friday evening, he failed to impress.

Despite all this, if Salah does end up exiting and Liverpool can't find anyone other than Yan Diomande to replace him, it's hard to see why they'd let Gakpo move on, especially with how favoured he is by Slot.

Even though this won't be the news that the Reds' fanbase will have wanted, the fact that Gakpo's future is starting to look clearer could ease some pressure from the shoulders of all those involved with Liverpool.

That is, unless he fails to live up to expectations next season, then some serious questions will need to be asked before it's too late.
