The San Francisco 49ers figure to be busy during the early goings of free agency—whether it’s retaining their own, bringing back familiar faces, or taking a big swing on a pricey player.

Colts free agent wide receiver Alec Pierce has every trait the Niners desire for a wide receiver. If Kyle Shanahan wants to add the league leader in yards per reception in each of the previous two seasons, who just so happens to be 6’3″ and one of the fastest wideouts in the game, the team can’t be shy about being willing to spend.
NFL Insider Josina Anderson tweeted the 49ers “might pay” the robust price tag for Pierce. She mentioned how the Patriots would be out on Pierce if that price tag ended up being $30 million annually.
The 49ers’ pending free agents include a couple of key contributors, Jauan Jennings and Kendrick Bourne. The need for a veteran to pair with Ricky Pearsall is likely at or near the top of the priority list for San Francisco during the next couple of weeks.
Other popular names the 49ers have been tied to include Mike Evans and Romeo Doubs. We will update with all the rumors, signings, and reports involving the team throughout the day.
Kyle’s update, 6:58 a.m. PT: We’ve had two trades before 7 a.m. The Packers sent Rashan Gary to the Cowboys in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick.
Gary is under contract for two more seasons, but does not have any guarantees remaining on his deal. Green Bay was likely to release Gary, which is why the trade compensation was so low.
The Miami Dolphins sent safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the New York Jets in exchange for a 2026 7th-round pick. Fitzpatrick is expected to sign a 3-year, $40 million extension.
Ed Ingram signed a three-year deal for $37.5 million, including $23.5 million in guarantees with the Texans.
Rickey Scoops tweeted that Trey Hendrickson is headed to the Cowboys, but that has since been deleted.
Kyle’s update, 9:04 a.m. PT: That didn’t take long. Alec Pierce agreed to stay with the Colts for a four-year, $114 million contract. Pierce gets $60 million in guarantees.
The Athletic’s Dianni Russini mentioned the 49ers among the four other teams that were interested in Pierce.
The Patriots signed DL Dre’Mont Jones to a three-year, $39 million deal.
Kyle’s update, 9:23 a.m.PT: Former Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker is headed to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Super Bowl champs lose a key piece and an explosive offensive weapon. Walker signed a three-year deal worth $45 million.
Kyle’s update, 9:37 a.m. PT: The Rams just signed Jaylen Watson to a three-year deal. Watson is coming off a season where he allowed a 53.8 completion percentage on 52 targets. He also had six tackles for loss. Watson had some highs and lows, but he’s a significant upgrade from what they had. With Trent McDuffie, the Rams might have moved to the favorite in the NFC.
Watson’s deal is three years for $51 million and includes $34 million in guarantees.
Jaelan Phillips signed a 4-year, $120 million deal with the Carolina Panthers. His contract includes $80 million in guarantees.
The Colts traded wide receiver Michael Pittman to the Steelers for a late-round pick swap. Pittman will receive a three-year deal worth $59 million.
Former Packers QB Malik Willis signed a 3-year, $67.5 million deal with the Miami Dolphins.
Kyle’s update, 9:54 a.m. PT: Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely follows John Harbaugh to the Giants on a three-year deal worth $40 million. He was an option that made sense for the 49ers. That was under the premise of buying low.
The Jets signed edge rusher Joseph Ossai to a three-year deal worth $36 million, including $22.5 million in guarantees.
We also have our first guard off the market. John Simpson, a 29-year-old, is off to the Ravens on a three-year deal worth $40 million. Simpson hasn’t missed a game in three seasons.
Kyle’s update, 10:11 a.m. PT: Running back Kenneth Gainwell is headed to Tampa Bay on a two-year deal worth $14 million. That was another potential option we discussed to take some of the workload off Christian McCaffrey.
Sticking with the Bucs, team reporter Greg Auman said teams have offered “north of $27 million per year for wide receiver Mike Evans.
Linebacker Demario Davis signed with the Jets on a two-year deal worth $22 million. He rejoins Aaron Glenn.
Kyle’s update, 10:27 a.m. PT: The Seahawks are losing another starter. Safety Coby Bryant received a $40 million deal for three years from the Chicago Bears.
Bryant started 15 games for the Seahawks this past season and 11 last year. He was the “glue” guy who held things together on the backend. Bryant had four interceptions this past season while only allowing a touchdown on 32 targets.
That creates a void, unless Seattle trusts Ty Okada, who fits Mike MacDonald’s defense pretty well. Okada came from a small school, but is a freak athlete.
He jumped 40.5″ vertical, had a 10-foot-9-inch broad jump, ran a 4.44 40-yard dash with a 3.98 20-yard short shuttle and a 6.85 3-cone at Montana State’s Pro Day in April 2023. That’ll play.
Cornerback Amik Robertson is signing with Washington on a two-year deal worth $16 million.
The Falcons signed kicker Nick Folk to a two-year deal.
The Lions signed center Cade Mays. , who started 20 games for the Carolina Panthers the past two seasons.
The Bucs signed linebacker Alex Anzalone.
Kyle’s update, 10:57 a.m. PT: Tyler Linderbaum signed a three-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. This is two years after the Raiders drafted Jackson Powers-Johnson, who will move to guard, and Linderbaum will play center. The Raiders are investing in their interior offensive line ahead of drafting Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 pick.
Wan’Dale Robinson received a four-year deal for $78 million with $38 million guaranteed from the Titans. He joins Brian Daboll once again.
The Patriots are losing Kyhris Tonga to the Chiefs on a three-year deal worth $21 million.
Tonga played 40 percent of the snaps for New England last season.
Former Eagles wide receiver Jahan Dotson signed with the Atlanta Falcons on a two-year, $15 million deal.
The Saints are signing running back Travis Etienne to a four-year deal worth $52 million.
Kyle’s update 12:15 p.m. PT: The Bengals, 49ers, and Colts were in on John Franklin-Myers, according to Dianni Russini, but Franklin-Myers lands with the Titans and Robert Saleh. It is a three-year, $63 million deal with $42 million guaranteed. He was with Saleh in New York.
The Chargers signed TE Charlie Kolar to a three-year deal worth $24.3 million with $17 million guaranteed.
Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds signed a three-year deal for $36 million with the New York Giants.
Former 49ers pass rusher Arden Key is off to the Colts for a two-year deal worth $20 million.
The Browns signed guard Zion Johnson to a three-year deal worth $49.5 million.
Cornerback Alontae Taylor signed a three-year deal for $60 million with the Titans. Saleh also added Cor’Dale Flott, a former Giants cornerback, to a three-year deal worth $45 million.
Running back JK Dobbins re-signed with the Broncos.
Safety Bryan Cook signed a three-year deal worth $40.25 million with the Bengals.
Cornerback Josh Jobe headed back to Seattle on a three-year deal worth $24 million.
Kyle’s update, 2:15 p.m. PT: The Atlanta Falcons signed Tua Tagovailoa to a one-year minimum deal of $1.3 million. Tua will still make over $50 million this year from his contract in Miami.
Quarterback Gardner Minshew signed a one-year deal to be the backup in Arizona. The Cardinals gave Minshew $5.75 million. He can earn nearly $9 million in incentives.
The Cardinals lost safety Jalen Thompson to the Cowboys on a three-year deal worth $33 million.
Cornerback Dee Alford signed a three-year deal for $21 million with the Bills.
Defensive tackle Tim Settle signed a 3-year deal for $25.5 million with the Washington Commanders.
The Raiders signed former Colts pass rusher Kwity Paye, worth $16 million a year. Tom Brady signs a Michigan player.
Kyle’s update, 2:40 p.m. PT: The Broncos released Dre Greenlaw one season after signing him to a contract worth $31.5 million. The 49ers just drafted Nick Martin, but he never played WILL linebacker. Dee Winters did last season, but he’s entering the final year of his contract. Greenlaw turns 29 this season.
Greenlaw was limited to seven games this season after coming off a season-ending injury with the Niners in 2024 that limited him to two games.
