Haise left Nice at the end of December. His exit came in the wake of a reshuffle at executive level, with Jean-Pierre Rivere and Maurice Cohen coming in to replace Fabrice Bocquet as co-presidents. That change was instigated by a violent episode involving the club’s fans, with ultras allegedly assaulting their own players, Jérémie Boga and Terem Moffi. The pair were placed on sick leave and subsequently left the club.
Haise was initially ready to leave in the wake of the episode, before staying on for several more weeks. However, he did denounce the violence during an interview with L’Équipe, at the time: “What would have happened if someone had reacted badly? Some came in balaclavas with petanque balls. Was it to play petanque?”

Nice’s fans responded with a banner on Sunday: “F. Haise, seeing [petanque] balls is all well and good, having balls is better”. The former Gym manager, now manager of Rennes, was also the subject of some unflattering chants from the home end.
In a post-match press conference attended by Get French Football News, he responded. “Regarding the people that I worked with: executives, players, staff, I only had good moments today. But the rest of it, I don’t place too much importance on it. Those who know me are those who worked with me,” said Haise.
