LSU baseball kicked off its series vs. the Oklahoma Sooners on Thursday night. After getting off to a 1-2 start in conference play, LSU was looking to even up its record with a Game 1 win.
Casan Evans got the start on the mound, and he was phenomenal. He went from his worst start of the season last week to his best start of the season on Thursday night. He was pulled from the game after 7.2 innings. He gave up only one run on three hits, 15 strikeouts, and one walk.

Casan Evans was painting corners of the strike zone as if he were Picasso. It was a work of art. In a big SEC game with LSU trying to get back on the right track, Evans was everything Jay Johnson needed him to be.

John Pearson was the leading hitter for the Tigers at the plate tonight, finishing the game 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Pearson got the start at third base tonight and made the most of it.

After struggling on the road against Vanderbilt last week, it was nice to see LSU get back in the groove and get a conference win under its belt. The season is not lost just because LSU lost one conference series. There is still a lot of baseball left.
