Brown appeared in a commercial previewing the next episode of CBS's "Boston Blue" during the network's coverage of the men's NCAA basketball tournament. The teaser for the police procedural, clipped by Celtics Blog's Noah Dalzell, featured Brown interacting with Donnie Wahlberg's Danny Reagan.

Brown took a tab at the New York Knicks at the expense of a character that formerly worked for the NYPD on "Blue Bloods."

"You're not a Knicks fan, are you?" Brown asked Wahlberg.

"I am," Wahlberg replied.

"I'm sorry for your loss."

The Knicks haven't won an NBA title since 1973 or played in the NBA Finals this century, but fans may argue the joke doesn't land as well in 2026. New York eliminated Boston in last year's second-round playoff series and only trails the Celtics by 1.5 games in the Eastern Conference.

Still, it's been a rather one-sided feud for most of Brown's life and playing career. While the Knicks are no longer in dire straits, the Celtics made the Eastern Conference Finals 10 times between New York's last appearances in 2000 and 2025.

The East's No. 2 and 3 seeds could be on a collision course for a playoff rematch. If Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham doesn't return from a collapsed lung, the Celtics and Knicks may even be considered the conference's top two contenders.

CBS will broadcast Brown's episode of "Boston Blue" on Friday, April 3. That means the Knicks dig could be fresh on their minds when the Celtics go to Madison Square Garden on April 9.
