The Brooklyn Nets (17-55) were coming off a close 126-122 loss to the Sacramento Kings and on the second night of a back-to-back, the Nets were hoping to have their legs under them. Heading into a matchup at the Portland Trail Blazers (36-37) on Monday, Brooklyn still had some injuries hindering their rotation, but their problems went beyond just who was unavailable.

The Nets lost at the Trail Blazers 134-99 despite trailing by just 35-30 after the end of the first quarter as it seemed that Brooklyn was more prepared this time around. Two-Way guard Tyson Etienne led the Nets in scoring with 18 points along with tallying three assists while forward Ziaire Williams had another solid game with 16 points and four rebounds.

The Nets came into Monday's loss to Portland severely shorthanded once again as they were missing Michael Porter Jr., Egor Demin, Day'Ron Sharpe, Terance Mann, Noah Clowney, Danny Wolf, and Drake Powell. On the other side, the Trail Blazers were without the likes of Shaedon Sharpe, Jerami Grant, and Robert Williams III, but it looked like they didn't need extra help.

Trail Blazers forward Toumani Camara torched the Nets from beyond the three-point arc as he finished the contest with 35 points, three rebounds, and three assists while shooting 10-of-12 from the field and 9-of-11 from behind the three-point line. Brooklyn also had trouble creating any sustainable offense against the Trail Blazers as they ended the night shooting just 41.3% from the floor while turning the ball over 22 times.

With the amount of players that the Nets were missing heading into this contest, players like forward Josh Minott (15 points, five rebounds) and Two-Way forward Chaney Johnson (12 points, five rebounds) were able to see more playing time. While Brooklyn heads into Wednesday's matchup at the Golden State Warriors on a eight-game losing streak, there is still a chance for a win to be earned by the Nets before turning home.
