2026 Texans fantasy preview: Biggest bargain, bust, and wild card
· Yahoo Sports
If the season started today, one Texans player would be their biggest fantasy bargain, another a likely bust, and a third a likely wild card.
C.J. Stroud has massive boom potential. An unusually high number of injuries to his receivers has contributed to Stroud’s two-year slump after his breakout rookie campaign. His QB ADP almost assuredly will be outside the top 20. But his WR corps is expected to be ready to roll Week 1. So at least for the moment, he’ll be surrounded by enough talent to surprise the market.

David Montgomery is on the downside of his career. But the market doesn’t yet realize it. Turning 29 in June, Montgomery is showing signs of a massive slowdown. His 2025 broken tackle rate was only one per 52.7 carries, which was roughly five times higher than his career mark entering last season. He also benefited from playing in a near-elite offense. With Woody Marks looming, Montgomery is poised to be the team’s biggest bust.
The biggest wild card is Tank Dell, whose injury woes put him on track for a make-or-break season. Managers who still admire his 2023 rookie numbers might realistically hope for a repeat of that success. Others might recognize that Dell is a relative long shot to play in 15+ games, and he might not even be Stroud’s #2 wideout. His ADP will probably shift significantly this summer as a result.
