NFL executive speaks about new Titans stadium, Nashville's Super Bowl bid for 2030

Tennessee Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk and CEO Burke Nihill made a "large group presentation" about the new Nissan Stadium and Nashville's East Bank construction project at the NFL league meetings on March 30, the same day that the NFL awarded Super Bowl 63 to Las Vegas and immediately set its sights to the possibility of bringing Super Bowl 64 to Nashville.
"Now, we wake up tomorrow morning and think about 2030 and that process," said NFL executive vice president of events Peter O'Reilly, speaking to TennesseeTitans.com. "We will move on that process pretty quickly over this next stretch, but nothing to report. Obviously, we're excited about Nashville as a city and the (new) stadium but nothing to specifically talk about in terms of 2030."

The new Nissan Stadium will be the indoor home of the Titans starting with the 2027 season. As O'Reilly said in the interview, the fact that Super Bowl 64 will be played in February of 2030 falls within the three-year window the NFL prefers to see a new stadium be open before leasing it for a major event like a Super Bowl.
As announced, the next three Super Bowls will be played in Los Angeles (2027), Atlanta (2028) and now Las Vegas (2029).
"They showcased the new Nissan Stadium and that transformation of the East Bank ― it had nothing to do with Super Bowl, but it was a great opportunity for them to show the full membership how transformational that project is on the East Bank," O'Reilly said about Adams Strunk's and Nihill's presentation. "We are in probably the most prolific new stadium and renovation period in the league in a long time, and the Nashville stadium was the one that was chosen to speak in there, and Amy and Burke spoke."
On a recent tour of the new Nissan Stadium, Nihill and stadium project executive Kellen DeCoursey said the construction timeline leaves the stadium still expected to open by early 2027. The exterior walls of the stadium are complete and the roof is expected to be raised by May and completely enclosed by September or October. Nissan Stadium is expected to host several events before opening for Titans games in the fall of 2027; this includes one-off concerts as well as festivals like CMA Fest.
In the meantime, the Titans will play one final season in the existing, outdoor Nissan Stadium structure, which has been home to the Titans since 1999.
Nashville has never hosted a Super Bowl. If the city is awarded the game for 2030, Nashville will become the 16th current NFL city and the 17th city overall to host the league's marquee event. Nashville is the lone city represented in the AFC South that has not hosted a Super Bowl. Among the NFL's "Southern" markets, Nashville and Charlotte are the only ones to never have hosted a Super Bowl.
