FORT LAUDERDALE — The Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins may not have a long history against one another, but it certainly is storied.

And heated.
Tonight, the two rivals meet again although the stakes are decidedly different.
The Panthers will be without 11 regulars and are a loss away from being officially eliminated from playoff contention after winning the past two Stanley Cup championships.
Boston, which had its season end to the Panthers in 2023 and 2024, holds the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference and is still in the running to get one of the top three spots in the Atlantic Division.
Toby Bjornfot and Mikulas Hovorka are the latest new additions to the team with Florida icing a squad with seven players who have played in the AHL this season.
It’s going to look a little different, that’s for sure.
“If it gets overly physical tonight, I think it’ll be on,’’ Paul Maurice said. “Just because we have played so many fantastic games with each other. So hard, so fast. The Game 7s, all of the emotion that comes into it. This is an important game for them for where they are in the standings. We will come into this game, I believe and hope, in the same manner we came out for the Ottawa Senators. There’s a complete respect for how hard they’re going to play against us tonight.’’
NOTES: BRUINS at PANTHERS- Aaron Ekblad tied Sasha Barkov as the franchise’s all-time leader in games played Tuesday against the Senators. It is a record he did not really want.
- Now, Ekblad is probably out for the season with a broken finger after blocking a shot with his right hand late Tuesday.
- Brad Marchand won’t face his old Bruins buddies tonight — but he doesn’t need surgery, either. Neither does Sam Reinhart. Their seasons are still over, however.
- If you have Comcast Xfinity cable, you probably will not have access to tonight’s game. On Tuesday, the media giant knocked off all Scripps-owned stations nationwide — including in the middle of Florida’s 6-3 win against the Senators.
- Starting Goalies: The Panthers will have Sergei Bobrovsky back in net tonight; Jeremy Swayman goes for the Bruins.
- How to Watch/Stream: The Panthers are back on local TV tonight. It can be streamed locally on Panthers+ and nationally on ESPN+.
- NHL Betting Odds: The Bruins are healthy favorites tonight at -160 on the money line. If you think the Panthers will win for the second straight night, a $100 bet pays $135 for the Panthers.
