What happened on Good Friday?
According to the New Testament, Good Friday marks the day when Jesus Christ was arrested after his last supper, and he was brought before Jewish leaders and then the Roman governor. By the order of the Roman governor Pontius Pilate, Jesus was crucified. Religious leaders at the time accused Jesus of blasphemy for claiming to be the Son of God and for performing miracles. Consequently, the Romans sentenced him to crucifixion, a punishment reserved for the gravest offenses. Good Friday is also known as Holy Friday.
