The Boston Bruins celebrated Easter Sunday on the road against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday afternoon. Boston was shut out for two full periods before Pavel Zacha got the Bruins on the scoreboard less than a minute into the third.

With the help of goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, who got the start in net while Jeremy Swayman took a rest day, the Bruins took the Philadelphia Flyers to overtime, tied at one.

Luckily, the Bruins secured a point for their playoff push, because when overtime started, things got sloppy.

Mark Kastelic won the opening faceoff, but David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha each turned it over in the Bruins zone, leading to what could have been the game-winning goal for Philadelphia less than a minute into the period.

Morgan Geekie had one look at the net from the point, but a Flyers defenseman was able to get a stick in the lane and send it into the netting.

Things fell apart on the ensuing faceoff, leading Bruins captain Pastrnak to intentionally commit a hooking penalty in hopes of slowing down the Flyers' rush. The play resulted in not only a 3-0 rush for Philadelphia, but also a two-minute minor to be served by Pastrnak after Korpisalo made the save.

Now outnumbered 4-3, the Bruins were hoping to tread water for the final 2:51 and force a shootout. However, on the faceoff that immediately followed Pastrnak’s penalty, Charlie McAvoy sent his stick up high and caught Flyers’ star Trevor Zegras in the mouth.

The referee’s hand went up, and the Bruins became severely outnumbered, skating 5-on-3 in the sudden-death period.

It only took 15 seconds for the Flyers to take advantage of the numbers and score the game-winner.

The Bruins dropped their third straight, but continue to sit in the driver’s seat to earn the higher seed in the wild-card pool.
