Things might end up looking a lot different to the Cowboys offense when they line up twice this year against the defense of one of their divisional rivals.

The New York Giants could find themselves without three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, as the seven-year veteran and former first-round draft pick has reportedly requested a trade, per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

"Lawrence and the Giants have been through two offseasons attempting to negotiate a contract reflecting his value to the Giants over the last three years," Schefter wrote in an X post Monday, "but there has not been any progress, per sources."

Lawrence, 28, will reportedly not participate in the Giants' offseason workout program, which begins Tuesday.

The 2026 season will be the Giants' first under new head coach John Harbaugh and new defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson. Now it appears they will kick off their offseason preps without the 102-game starter who has anchored Big Blue's defensive line since coming out of Clemson in 2019.

"He's super, super important," Harbaugh said of Lawrence as recently as February. "He's a cornerstone football player -- not really a cornerstone, more like the middle stone. He's right in the middle. He's a very big stone, and he's a very active, athletic one."

Lawrence's Giants teams have not fared well versus the Cowboys, posting just a 2-14 mark in head-to-head meetings since he joined the roster. But in those 16 games, Lawrence has posted 44 tackles and nine QB hits.

The 6-foot-4-inch 340-pounder should command plenty of attention in the pre-draft trade market, but Dak Prescott and the Cowboys likely wouldn't be all that sorry to see Lawrence leave the division.
