BBE, which played to an 11-11 overall finish and a 7-7 record in the Central Minnesota Conference last spring, returns nearly all of its starting lineup for a season where a new opportunity presents itself: the Jaguars have moved from Section 3A to 4A. "We are returning eight out of our nine starters and we could not be more excited to have this core of players back," said Logan Funk, who enters his fourth season as head coach. "This team is unique because of the flexibility we have with players who play multiple positions."
Funk's squad is led by a pair of All-Area members and an All-Area Honorable Mention.
Mya Worms, a junior who was an All-Area First Team selection last year, is coming off a sophomore season where she posted a 9-8 record with a 3.67 ERA and 82 strikeouts in 106 innings. She also batted .468 with 36 hits, including 10 doubles, 22 RBIs and nine runs scored.
"Mya's ability to spot-up pitches wherever she wants makes her one of the top pitchers in the conference," Funk said of Worms, who went from 43 walks in her freshman season to 15 walks last year. "Mya had a breakout season offensively, leading the team in hits and RBIs. Her ability to not only hit for power, but hit in all three phases of the field makes her a dynamic player."
McKenna Lieser, a senior who was an All-Area Third Team selection a spring ago, recorded a .485 batting average with 32 hits, including 10 doubles, 18 runs and 12 RBIs in her junior year.
"McKenna is such a special player in terms of leadership and being that utility player that every coach would love to have on their team," Funk said of Lieser, who plays middle infield as well as centerfield and catcher. "She has been the most consistent hitter the last three seasons."
Lydia Primus, a sophomore infielder who is also listed as a pitcher, is coming off an All-Area Honorable Mention freshman season where she hit .440 with 33 hits, 24 runs and 13 RBIs.
"Lydia has played varsity since eighth grade and has seen impressive growth and improvement in her game," Funk said. "She's going to be a huge piece to this team's success this year."
BBE returns seniors in infielders Bree Radermacher and Kacey Fischer and right-fielder Ava Lieser; junior in second baseman Kamie Fischer; and sophomore left fielder Lillian Thompson.
Boyce Fischer, Eric Primus and Kylie Winter are on Funk's coaching staff for the 2026 season.
