Jaguars land All-American defensive tackle in 2026 NFL mock draft

· Yahoo Sports

In a 2026 NFL mock draft from Josh Edwards of CBS Sports, the Jacksonville Jaguars select an FCS All-American defensive tackle in the second round.

Without a first-round pick, the Jaguars' first selection comes at pick No. 56 overall. And with that pick, Edwards had the Jaguars address a top need, picking Southeastern Louisiana interior defender Kaleb Proctor.

"The second round may be too rich for Proctor, but he is rising up the board," Edwards wrote. "There has been a report going around indicating that Proctor stacks up favorably in analytics within the Rams organization. The Jaguars' leadership has roots in Los Angeles, and Proctor is the type of interior defender the Rams have collected in the past."

Proctor was a consensus FCS All-American last season as well as the Southland Conference's Defensive Player of the Year.

Proctor showcased his pass-rush juice last season, logging a career-high 39 quarterback pressures, along with nine sacks. Among all FCS interior defenders, he ranked third in Pro Football Focus' pass-rush win rate metric.

Although undersized at 291 pounds, he's graded out well against the run by PFF's metrics for what it's worth.

The NFL.com's Lance Zierlein had this to say about Proctor in his pre-draft scouting report:

"As an interior defender, Proctor is an elite athlete with rare playmaking range. He’s an elusive rusher with an explosive first step and the ability to unlock openings with varied approaches and angles. He’s also very undersized with limited recourse once linemen have him squared up and put hands on him. He lacks the anchor or contact balance to withstand power. Proctor needs to find a fit in a move-based defensive front where he can try to mismatch interior protection with his quickness and athletic gifts."

What is the Jaguars' need at defensive tackle?

The need here is twofold, and it's quite high. The Jaguars need bodies at this position group. Improved depth and competition are a must as they attempt to generate a more consistent pass rush from this unit in 2026.
