Athlete of the Week - Kennedy Halverson
Kennedy Halverson helped Harper Creek to a big week on the softball diamond. Harper Creek swept Kalamazoo Central in a doubleheader with Halverson going 3-for-3 with a home run in the opener. She added six RBI and another home run in the second game. Over the weekend, she helped Harper Creek win Merry Jo Tavernier Tournament in Three Rivers. Halverson had three hits and a home run in the championship game win over Portage Central.
"Kennedy set high goals for herself as one of our senior captains, both on and off the field. What has impressed me most is her willingness to learn how to lead in new ways. She's become more vocal in practices and games. That leadership is matched by her performance, as she's batting .643, with a .706 on-base percentage in the early going, collecting 18 hits and driving in 22 runs already," Harper Creek softball coach Sarah Palmer.
