What does Sports Illustrated NFL insider Albert Breer think will happen with the top 10 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft?

On Saturday, in the latest installment of the "Breer Report," the NFL insider previewed the top 10 with a combination of what he was hearing around the NFL, in addition to what he thought would happen. It's worth noting that Breer filmed this before the Giants traded defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals for the No. 10 overall pick. Now, the Giants hold the No. 5 and 10 picks in the first round.

Here are the players Breer linked to each spot, and we will focus specifically on the Washington Commanders, who hold the No. 7 overall pick.

  • 1. Raiders: Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza
  • 2. Jets: Texas Tech EDGE David Bailey
  • 3. Cardinals: (Would love to trade) EDGE Arvell Reese if they stay, potentially Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love
  • 4. Titans: (Would love to trade) Reese (if available), Love and Ohio State LB Sonny Styles
  • 5. Giants: (Would love to trade) Sonny Styles is the name he hears most, also Miami OL Frances Mauigoa, Ohio State WR Carnell Tate and Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson have been linked to New York
  • 6. Browns: (Would love to trade) Mauigoa, Utah OL Spencer Fano, Miami OL Kadyn Proctor, Tate and Tyson are all names to know.
  • 7. Commanders: (Would love to trade) Love, Styles
  • 8: Saints: Corner or receiver are his best guesses. Tate, LSU CB Mansoor Delane
  • 9: Chiefs: OT at some point, but maybe not here. Tyson or Tate are possibilities here, so is a corner if Delane is available. Maybe Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq.
  • 10: Bengals (before trade with Giants): Defensive player, Downs, Delane, Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy, Proctor

Here's what Breer said about the Commanders:

"I think this could be the floor for Jeremiyah Love," Breer said. "For the same reasons, if you're the Titans and you pair him with Cam Ward, I think Love would make sense to pair with Jayden Daniels, take some of the pressure off of him. Maybe it lessens the need to involve Jayden Daniels in the run game, so you're taking the miles off of his body over the course of a year."

Next, Breer turned his attention to Styles:

"And then the other name here is Sonny Styles. And this may be the floor for Styles. A lot of love for Styles love out there. Very much, he would be in the equation for the Commanders at No. 7. And we talk about the crossover, the (Titans coach Robert) Saleh and (Commanders coach Dan) Quinn crossover, both of them having the Pete Carroll/Seattle roots. Styles would very much be a stylistic fit with the Commanders."

While we don't have access to Washington's draft board, the two names most associated with the Commanders are Love and Styles. Are they the top two players on the board? It feels almost impossible that both will fall. However, if one of them slips to No. 7, it could be an easy decision for Washington GM Adam Peters.
