Newcastle on red alert as £56.1m Bayern attacker will officially leave the club this summer

Nicolas Jackson is set to return to Chelsea at the end of the season at the end of his loan spell with Bayern Munich.
Christian Falk reports that Newcastle could be one potential suitor for the Senegalese international this summer.

The FC Bayern No.11 has registered 10 goals and four assists in 30 games (across all competitions) in 2025/26.
Bayern won’t be buying Nicolas Jackson
While the fee alone that Chelsea are looking for should be considered a major stumbling block, the simple fact of the matter is that Jackson isn’t the perfect fit for this Bayern side.
“Everyone in the club is clear: Nicolas Jackson’s chapter with Bayern Munich will close at the end of the season,” Falk exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.
“The €65m [£56.1m] Chelsea are looking for would be too much! Even if the Blues were to cut that figure in half, we can’t escape the fact that Jackson doesn’t suit Vincent Kompany’s system perfectly.
“The squad is already small, yes, and you’ve got Jamal Musiala, who can’t play a full 90 minutes yet, as he’s recovering from his serious injury. But it says a lot when Jackson then comes on last for about a minute of action in the first leg of Bayern’s 5-4 defeat in Paris. There’s not a lot of trust in this transfer. But it’s perhaps to be expected, given this was a last-minute transfer in the summer.”
Despite that, of course, there’s enough evidence in the way of the striker’s contributions throughout the campaign to suggest he’d be a fine fit for another top outfit.

And it seems that outfit could very well be Eddie Howe’s Newcastle.
Chelsea could sell Jackson to Newcastle
Covering Nick Woltemade’s now apparently tumultuous relationship with the Magpies, Christian Falk added: “In amongst this, it’s worth highlighting that Newcastle should develop their interest in Nicolas Jackson.”
Whether Newcastle would be prepared to fork out a figure over £50m for the on-loan Chelsea attacker, however, remains to be seen.
The north east-based side is currently facing fresh Financial Fair Play struggles, which could very well force them into moving on key stars.
A selection from the likes of Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon are all almost certainly up for grabs. FC Bayern, of course, are among the suitors for the England international.
If reports around Woltemade’s apparent dissatisfaction with his lot in Newcastle are on the money, perhaps the former Carabao Cup holders could recoup some funds from the German’s exit.
Perhaps that alone might mostly fund the astronomical figure Chelsea want for Jackson?
