This isn't about anything other than the funniest bunt attempt in baseball history.

In Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, a suicide squeeze call was on.

That means that the runner on third base is racing toward home on the pitch. The batter has to get the bunt down, or that runner is a sitting duck.

So even if the pitch is bad, the hitter has to try to get it.

That led to this:

He did everything he could. That simply wasn't a pitch made to bunt, but he did his best.

The clip cuts off, but you can see the catcher start racing toward the runner who was coming home.

This clearly is the downside to a potential suicide squeeze call by the coaching staff, but to be fair, you aren't often expecting something like this.

The effort was great. The visual was great. Baseball is fun, even in its unusual moments -- really, especially in its unusual moments.
