The season for the Dallas Stars came to an end when they lost in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs against the Minnesota Wild. Changes are expected in the Texas team's roster, and forward Jason Robertson is one of the names to keep in mind.

On April 30, the Wild beat the Stars at the Xcel Energy Center, securing their fourth win, while Dallas only managed two in Round 1.

That same day, The Athletic's Mark Lazerus addressed the future of the Texas franchise's roster. He did not rule out that general manager Jim Nill might look to trade Robertson, 26, now that his value is high, to improve his pool of picks and his prospect pipeline.

The forward native of Arcadia, California, is finishing the fourth year of his four-year deal with a total value of $31 million and an annual average value of $7.75 million. His status in the offseason will be restricted free agent, meaning Dallas retains his rights but must sign him or match any offer.

"How high is Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill willing to go for his 26-year-old, three-time 40-goal scorer Jason Robertson? Could he look to move the pending RFA to restock his depleted prospect and draft pool?" Lazerus wrote.

Coach expects 'basically the same group' but Nill may consider changes after playoff exit

The Athletic's journalist added that Nill could also look to trade centers Matt Duchene and Roope Hintz, the latter due to being prone to constant injuries. That said, he noted that head coach Glen Gulutzan expects to have almost exactly the same group next season.

He wrote, "Nill could also look at moving veteran Matt Duchene or injury-prone Roope Hintz. You also couldn't blame them if they wanted to run it back next season. Coach Glen Gulutzan expects to basically have the same group back next season. They've been true contenders for the past four years and have nothing to show for it."
