Fadiel Adams arrested in Cape Town

The SAPS Political Killings Task Team arrested National Coloured Congress MP Fadiel Adams on Tuesday at the Pelican Park Parliamentary Village in Cape Town.
Police moved in just before midday at the parliamentary property linked to Adams, despite his earlier statement that he would only hand himself over on Wednesday.

SAPS says Fadiel Adams failed to surrender
SAPS had earlier instructed Adams to report to the nearest police station over allegations of fraud and defeating the ends of justice.
Police said they made several attempts to locate him, including visiting multiple addresses linked to him.
They also said they arranged with his legal representative for him to hand himself over on Monday, 4 May 2026 at Cape Town Central Police Station, but he did not comply.
Allegations linked to Magaqa investigation
Authorities allege that Adams interfered with investigations into the murder of former ANC Youth League leader Sindiso Magaqa.
Adams told eNCA that he had already contacted senior SAPS officials about three weeks earlier, after learning of his impending arrest.
“I offered to hand myself over about a month ago. This is a clear case of intimidation. They need to discredit me before the chickens come home to roost,” he said.
He also claimed police failed to inform his legal team of the exact charges against him.
“They didn’t want to tell us, but now they can tell the nation,” he said.
Political role and background
Adams serves on the Police Portfolio Committee and leads the National Coloured Congress.
He has been a vocal critic of corruption within SAPS and has accused parts of the police service of protecting criminal networks.
