STILLWATER — Coach Kenny Gajewski said he felt confident that his Oklahoma State Cowgirls had done enough to earn a regional host berth in the NCAA softball tournament and he was and the selection committee proved him right.

The Cowgirls are a No. 4 seed in their quadrant (No. 13 overall) as the host of the Stillwater Regional that will include No. 5 seed Stanford, Princeton and Eastern Illinois. The four-team, double-elimination bracket will begin play Friday at Cowgirl Stadium.
Princeton faces Stanford at 1 p.m. Friday in the regional opener, with OSU and Eastern Illinois finishing the first round at 3:30 p.m.
OSU and Stanford met in the season opener in Palo Alto, California, with Stanford winning 4-2.
OSU (38-15) finished second in the Big 12 behind last year’s NCAA runner-up, Texas Tech. The Cowgirls won 21 of their last 26 games, concluding with a semifinal loss to eventual tournament champion Arizona State in the Big 12 Tournament on Friday.
The winner of the Stillwater Regional will match up with the winner of the Lincoln Regional hosted by No. 1 Nebraska.
Rosie Davis has been swinging a hot bat lately with four home runs in the last five games, bringing her total to a team-best 14 for the season.
OSU has been anchored by ace right-handed pitcher Ruby Meylan. The senior has a 27-7 record and 2.11 ERA with 205 strikeouts over 222 innings.
OSU is 13-7 at home this season, but among those seven losses, Meylan did not start six of them and did not pitch at all in four of them.
