General Manager presents Safety Award to 10 employees of Central Railway

Rajeev Shrivastava, General Manager, Central Railway felicitated 10 Central Railway employees with Safety Award for the month of May 2026 in recognition of their alertness, devotion to duty and timely action in ensuring safe train operations.
The Safety Awards were presented in appreciation of the presence of mind and dedication displayed by the employees while on duty, which helped avert potential untoward incidents and ensured safety of passengers and railway operations. Each award consists of a medal, commendation certificate, citation of exemplary safety work and a cash prize.

Details of the Awardees
Mumbai Division (2 Awardees)
Mahadev Chaudhary, Fitter (C&W), Igatpuri, Mumbai Division, while conducting brake power examination of a goods train on 22.03.2026, noticed a broken bearing cup of one wagon. He immediately informed all concerned and timely action was taken. His alertness helped avert a possible accident.
Vijay Singh, Senior Technician (C&W), CSMT, Mumbai Division, while conducting rolling-in examination of Train No. 12072 on 04.04.2026, noticed that the wheel flange of one coach had broken. He immediately informed all concerned. His alertness and prompt action helped prevent a possible accident.
Pune Division (3 Awardees)
Sumeet Kumar, Deputy Station Manager, Patas, Pune Division, while on duty on 28.04.2026 at Pathas station, noticed sparks and smoke emanating from grass underneath one of the wagons of a BTPN loaded rake. He immediately rushed to the spot along with on-duty staff carrying a fire extinguisher and sand to control the smoke, and informed all concerned. His alertness and prompt action helped avert a possible accident.
Baban Jadhav, Technician (C&W), Kolhapur, Pune Division, while examining Train No. 11030 on 17.04.2026, noticed a broken dashpot of a coach. Since the dashpot was located at the primary spring assembly and difficult to identify with the naked eye, he immediately informed all concerned. His alertness helped avert a possible untoward incident.
Mohammad Sheikh Shakil, Gateman, Yevla, Pune Division, while on duty at a level crossing gate on 26.03.2026, noticed heat and smoke from the axle box of a passing goods train. He immediately informed the Station Master, and the train was stopped on loop line, where a hot axle was detected. His vigilance helped prevent a possible accident.
Bhusaval Division (3 Awardees)
Himanshu Agrawal, Train Manager, Itarsi, Bhopal Division, while on duty at 21:00 hrs on 12.04.2026 at Khandwa station, during pre-departure inspection of a goods train (BTPGLN), noticed severe gas leakage from the dome cover of the seventh wagon from the locomotive. He immediately informed all concerned and timely action was taken, thereby averting a possible accident.
Babu Kiran, Assistant Loco Pilot, Bhusaval, Bhusaval Division, while examining Train No. 12129 at Mhavasad station on 01.04.2026, noticed that the torque arm bolt of Traction Motor No. 5 of the locomotive was loose. He immediately informed all concerned and the defect was attended to promptly, thereby averting a possible accident.
S.S. Khedekar, Head Constable, Bhusaval, Bhusaval Division, while on duty at Bhusaval station on 03.04.2026, noticed a passenger slipping while attempting to board moving Train No. 11077. Displaying exceptional alertness and courage, he immediately rushed and safely rescued the passenger, thereby preventing a serious mishap.
Solapur Division (1 Awardee)
Bharat Gorakh Pasale, Track Maintainer, Malikpeth, Solapur Division, while working in Malikpeth yard on 14.04.2026, noticed a hot axle in a passing goods train and immediately showed a red signal and got the train stopped. He informed all concerned and timely action was taken, thereby averting a possible accident.
Nagpur Division (1 Awardee)
Rajesh Kumar, Train Manager, Nagpur, Nagpur Division, while performing duties on a Down goods train on 28.03.2026, observed a JCB machine striking OHE Mast No. 879/24 on the Up line in the Jaulkheda–Amla block section, causing the mast to tilt towards the railway track. He promptly informed all concerned authorities. Subsequently, the Station Manager at Amla issued a caution order to a MEMU train waiting for line clear, thereby preventing a possible untoward incident.
The General Manager congratulated the awardees for their exemplary devotion to duty and alertness, and expressed confidence that their actions would inspire other railway employees to remain vigilant and committed towards ensuring passenger safety and protection of railway assets.
Chandra Kishore Prasad, Principal Chief Safety Officer, Other Principal Head of Departments and Senior Officers of Central Railway were present on the occasion.
