Will Oregon Ducks host? 16 regional sites announced for NCAA Tourney
· Yahoo Sports
There's been one underlying question for the Oregon Ducks' baseball team over the back half of the year, and at long last, we have our answer.
That question: Will the Ducks be able to earn a hosting spot in the NCAA Tournament, setting up the Eugene Regional at PK Park for the second straight year?
Visit catcross.org for more information.
The answer is yes, despite a heartbreaking loss to the UCLA Bruins in the bottom of the 11th inning on Sunday afternoon, the Ducks lost the Big Ten Championship. The game ended on a controversial note, with the winning run coming across the plate on a hit-by-pitch call that is very much up for debate.
UCLA's 3-2 win hands them their first Big Ten championship in program history, and gives the Ducks their second heartbreaking loss to the Bruins in the last 14 days; the first came with a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the 8th inning two weeks ago, squandering Oregon's chance at a series victory over the No. 1 Bruins.
Despite the loss, Oregon still impressed the committee enough to earn a hosting spot in the NCAA Tournament next week.

Oregon was named one of 16 regional hosts for the NCAA Tournament. Just the regional sites were announced on Sunday night, with the rest of the tournament field being revealed on Monday morning at 9 a.m. on ESPN2.
The Ducks hosted a regional in Eugene at the end of the 2025 season, which was their fourth time doing so in 14 years. They lost their first two games of the regional, to Utah Valley and Cal Poly, ending the season in disappointing fashion. They also hosted regionals at PK Park in 2012, 2013, and 2021, as well as super regionals in 2012 and 2023.
Going into the Big Ten Tournament, there was a reasonable expectation that, should Oregon win a game or two, they would likely earn the hosting position. On Saturday morning, they beat the Washington Huskies 9-4, and they turned around and shut out the Nebraska Cornhuskers 8-0 on Saturday afternoon in the tournament semifinal.
This set up Oregon's showdown against UCLA in the championship on Sunday, where UCLA prevailed in extra innings.
The remainder of Oregon's bracket will be announced on Monday morning, so we will know more about their matchup details then.
