U.S. targets Iranian missile sites, boats
The American military has targeted Iranian missile launch sites and boats around the Strait of Hormuz on Monday on what it’s calling “self-defence strikes” amid a fragile ceasefire and ongoing negotiations to end the war.
“U.S. forces conducted self-defence strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces,” CENTCOM spokesman Timothy Hawkins told CNN . “Targets included missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to emplace mines. U.S. Central Command continues to defend our forces while using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire.”
American and Iranian forces have previously exchanged fire during the ceasefire. The most recent occurrence was in early May when U.S. forces attacked Iranian military facilities responsible for launching a series of “unprovoked” missile, drone and small boat attacks against American warships travelling in the strait.

No U.S. safe haven in Gulf: Iran’s Supreme Leader
Middle East countries will “no longer serve as shields for U.S. bases,” according to Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
In a written address to mark the Islamic Hajj season on Tuesday, Khamenei talked about a “new order” emerging for the Gulf region and the world.
“The United States not only will no longer have a safe haven for its mischief and for establishing military bases in the region, but day by day, it is growing more distant from its former status,” Khamenei said, per CNN.
Khamenei said Israel and its leaders were “approaching the final stages of their wretched existence.”
