NDA's Beland helps Rebels place 2nd at North/Central/West golf championship

North/Central/West Championship: Notre Dame Academy's Georgia Beland carded a 7-over 78 to tie for fifth and help the Rebels finish second at Ellinwood CC in Athol.

Notre Dame's Addison Cutting carded a 97, while Paige Andreoli shot 100 and Emerson Rue shot 110 to pick up points for the Rebels.

Tantasqua's Rory Herrick also shot a 78 to tie for fifth. Concord-Carlisle's Sophie Redmond earned medalist honors with a stunning 2-under 69. Westford Academy's Maddie Smith shot 73 and Longmeadow's Cecily Henshon carded a 74.

The top finishers will compete on Monday, June 1 at the state championship meet at Indian Pond CC in Plymouth.

Hopkinton took the team title with a score of 85 - which was 16 strokes ahead of Notre Dame. Wellesley was third with a 105, while Auburn was fourth with a 121 and Nashoba took fifth with a 130. Malden Catholic (132), Needham (140) and Ursuline Academy (144) rounded out the team scoring.

Nashoba's Kylie Heffernan shot a 85 to tie for 10th. The Wolves also got points from Jullian Heffernan (107), Victoria Masucci (108) and Maddie Dempsey (114).

Auburn's Alyssa Bonneau (97) and Molly Grandazzo (98) led the Rockets, while Sabrina Cooper shot 102 and Ava Rocheford (108) also picked up points for Auburn.

Other local finishers included Wachusett's Somer Staiti, who tied for 20th with a 92, St. Paul's Teagan Dumas (tied for 38 with a 104) and Quabbin's Makenzie Casey (tied for 40th with a 105),
