USA's Ryan Lindgren ejected for hit to head on Canada's Evan Bouchard

The United States and Canada each lost a defenseman in the first period of their hockey world championships quarterfinal on Thursday, May 28, after an injury-causing hit.
Canada's Evan Bouchard went down hard on the ice after he was checked by Ryan Lindgren. The USA defenseman was handed a five-minute major for an illegal check to the head, plus a game misconduct.

Bouchard, who plays for the Edmonton Oilers, went to the dressing room and will not return, according to NHL Network. Lindgren, who plays for the Seattle Kraken, was done for the game.

Canada wasn't able to convert on the five-minute power play but later got a power-play goal by the San Jose Sharks' Macklin Celebrini.
Canada leads 1-0 in the second period against the defending champion United States.
