Germany qualify in style for 2027 Women’s World Cup
· Yahoo Sports
Germany defeated Norway 2-0 to raucous post-game celebrations at the RheinEnergieSTADION in Köln. It is a result that sees the German WNT through to the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil, while Norway will need to win a play-off to qualify, having finished second in Group D.
Two first-half goals, scored by full-backs Marie Müller (Portland Thorns) and Carlotta Wamser (Bayer Leverkusen), broke the game open and lifted the Germans to a comfortable finish.

Wamser began the first goal-scoring sequence in the 17th minute by finding Klara Bühl over the top, sending the Bayern Munich running clear in behind. Bühl’s cut-back found club teammate Linda Dallman, who laid it off behind her with a no-look outside-of-the-boot back flick from near the penalty area for debutante fullback Müller.
Ten minutes later, center-back Kathrin Hendrich (Chicago Stars) found forward Lea Schüller (Manchester United). The former Bayern striker played a neat first-time lay-off to spring Dallmann, who drove herself the length of the opposition half of the field before sliding it left for Wamser, who struck cleanly from the outside of the box to curl past Norway keeper Cecilie Fiskerstrand.
The match was streamed by the DFB’s German Football channel on YouTube.
Germany’s final match of World Cup Qualifying will be on Tuesday, June 9th, against Slovenia.
