I incorrectly reported that Shemar Jean-Charles has a pick yesterday that Devon Witherspoon celebrated.

He’s #34. It was rookie Michael Dansby #37 who had the pick.

Is there a chance the team’s final pick, who went 255th out of 257 picks overall in the draft, earns a roster spot alongside the All-Pro candidates in the Seahawks’ stacked-as-ever secondary?
The Seahawks wanted Michael Dansby in the seventh round for a reason, and he’s having immediate success. He barely did any pre-draft testing except for height, weight, bench, hand size, and arm length, which were underwhelming compared to the other cornerbacks Seattle drafted higher, Andre Fuller and Julian Neal. What Dansby lacks in measurables, he makes up for on tape with aggression, ball skills and smarts.

His 1-minute, 36-second practice highlight reel from The American Bowl, is one of the better explanations as to why Seattle drafted him over every other CB that was three picks away from going undrafted. At the college all-star game in January, Dansby dominated the practices with his ball skills and aggression to the tune of three interceptions and several more pass breakups, which Brian Baldinger highlighted here- even warning people to “listen for his name called in the draft”. The Seahawks seemed to agree.
Dansby was also one of just eight academic all-district selections at Arizona in 2025. There’s reason to believe his interviews went well at The American Bowl, too, as his answering of media questions in Seattle so far has been fantastic. Despite certain obvious roadblocks, Dansby impressed the Seahawks enough to be drafted by them over other positional needs like edge.
During Dansby’s draft call with the Seahawks, defensive backs coach Karl Scott referenced “a conversation they had on Wednesday” and said it was all worth it, and that this was just the beginning. He also has defensive assistant and defensive backs assistant Neiko Thorpe talk to Dansby after, suggesting he could be working with the younger Dansby in significant ways. He made the jump to getting playing time eventually from UDFA originally, so they will be able to relate to some extent.
