Former Notre Dame star leads new team to the College World Series

· Yahoo Sports

For most players who transfer, the goal is to get a chance to have more playing time and win a national championship, and late Sunday evening the latter happened for a former Notre Dame baseball star.

Catcher Carson Tinney was fantastic during his two seasons in South Bend, becoming the face of the program who just couldn’t get over the hump and make the NCAA Tournament. Shortly after last season ended, he entered the transfer portal and eventually committed to Texas.

The move paid off for Tinney, as the Longhorns defeated Oregon to advance to the College World Series. It was another big season for the catcher, as he smashed 21 home runs, drove in 56 while batting .333 against top SEC competition.

Tinney most likely will be a two-time All-American, as many believe that he will make the list again this season. It will always be a what-if with him in South Bend, but we are happy that he’s living out his CWS dreams.
