The LSU Tigers have landed their first defensive back commitment in the 2027 class with the addition of Markez Davis.
Davis is a highly underrated prospect and a true multi-sport athlete. In addition to football, he also excels on the basketball court, where he has already scored more than 1,000 career points. On the football field, he plays both wide receiver and defensive back.
Corey Raymond sees Davis as a cornerback, and his measurables help explain why. The 3-star prospect from Northwest High School in Opelousas, Louisiana, checks in at 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds. That is the prototypical frame for a Corey Raymond corner at LSU.
Davis may remind Tiger fans of Greedy Williams—a lower-rated prospect with tremendous upside who possesses the physical traits coaches look for at the position. He is eager to come in and be developed by Raymond, whose track record of producing elite cornerbacks is well documented.
The Lane Train is at full steam ahead, and the Tigers are far from finished.
There are already rumblings that LSU is working to get another elite prospect on campus for an official visit. Another weekend of visitors is beginning to take shape, and the Tigers continue to build momentum on the recruiting trail.
Who would you like to see LSU bring to campus? Or who do you think is the elite prospect the Tigers are trying to get on campus for a visit?
