Golden State Warriors’ crazy pitch to convince LeBron James to join Steph Curry revealed
· Yahoo Sports
The Golden State Warriors still appear to have a dream scenario in mind, with LeBron James joining Stephen Curry in a late-career superteam push.

The idea sounds wild because James has spent eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers and is deeply settled in Southern California.
At this stage of his career, family, routine, and control matter almost as much as any basketball pitch. That is why Golden State’s reported angle is so striking.
The Warriors may not only be selling rings and legacy, but also a way for James to chase them without fully uprooting his life.

Jake Fischer on The Stein Line reported that LeBron James is still widely expected to prefer the Lakers as his next step.
“Staying with the Lakers is widely believed to be his preferred choice because he is so entrenched in Los Angeles now after eight seasons with the purple and gold,” Fischer said.
That makes any Warriors pursuit complicated from the start. James has built a life in Los Angeles, and leaving the Lakers at 41 would take more than a normal contender pitch.
Golden State has chased the idea before, including a reported trade attempt in 2024, but the same problem has always been sitting in the middle of it. James has to want the move, not just the basketball fit.
Golden State Warriors pitch LeBron James commute to join Stephen Curry
The unusual part of the latest Warriors interest is the lifestyle solution attached to it, with Golden State still reportedly intrigued by adding James to a veteran core.
“Yet league sources maintain that Golden State remains legitimately interested in adding LeBron to their Stephen Curry/Jimmy Butler/Draymond Green core coached by Steve Kerr,” Fischer continued.
“… With the pitch presumed to include the idea that LeBron could commute from Los Angeles to some TBD degree without having to move his family,” he concluded.
That is a crazy recruiting angle, but it also explains why the Warriors remain one of the few teams that can even make the idea sound plausible. The Bay Area is close enough to Los Angeles for a commute pitch to exist, even if the day-to-day reality would still be demanding.
Basketball-wise, Curry, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, and James under Steve Kerr would be one of the strangest veteran cores imaginable.
It would be old, famous, expensive, and fascinating, with four players who have spent years controlling playoff series in completely different ways.
The Lakers still look like the safer bet, but Golden State’s pitch shows how far the Warriors are willing to stretch the imagination to give Curry one more massive swing.
