CLEVELAND - In position to leave Progressive Field with a three-game sweep, the Yankees will have Carlos Rodon on the mound for Wednesday's 1:10 p.m. matinee against the Guardians.

Last Thursday at Yankee Stadium, Rodon went six innings and yielded one run in a 2-1 Yanks victory versus Cleveland, helping to avoid a three-game sweep by the Guards.
In his fifth start of the year, Rodon - coming off an elbow procedure last October - struck out seven and lowered his ERA to 2.88.
Cleveland is due to start lefty Parker Messick (6-2, 2.40 ERA), who has never faced the Yankees.
Yanks manager Aaron Boone has the right-handed lineup in there except for Max Schuemann, who is on the bench, with Anthony Volpe back at shortstop and Jose Caballero in right field.
Lefty-hitting Jazz Chisholm Jr. is at second base; his last two home runs, including Tuesday night, have been hit off lefty pitchers.
Per Baseball-Reference.com, Messick's 2.7 WAR among starting pitchers ranks tied for second in the AL, with Chicago's Davis Martin. The leader, at 3.2, is Cam Schlittler.
