Mickelson hasn't played in any major this year and hasn't played in a professional tournament since he took a leave of absence from LIV Golf earlier this season. However, the 55-year-old was kicked out of his private golf club after an incident with a female employee led the club to take action against him.
Mickelson has not given the public a possible return date to competing professionally, and he is not expected to compete at the U.S. Open next week, marking just the second time he misses the tournament since 1994.
Here's what we know so far about Mickelson's allegations.
Phil Mickelson allegations
Golf Digest reported that Mickelson is no longer a member of his home club, The Farms Golf Club just outside of San Diego, after he made "non-consensual and inappropriate contact" with a woman employee at the club before going to play golf. The woman immediately reported Mickelson's actions to her bosses, which led to an internal investigation immediately.
The club took Mickelson off the course during his round and told him to leave immediately.
"The Farms conducts thorough reviews of all reported matters according to California Law and takes appropriate action when warranted, consistent with our commitment to integrity, excellence and accountability," the club told Golf Digest in a statement. "To protect the safety and privacy of our staff and members, we are unable to speak further on this matter. We appreciate your understanding."
Mickelson's attorney, Tom Clare, denied the allegations to Golf Digest.
"There is a great deal of misinformation circulating and, while Phil's full attention is devoted to a private family health matter, he has retained defamation counsel and is determined to hold accountable any publication or individual trafficking in speculation or false rumors," Clare said.
Mickelson is currently away from LIV Golf while dealing with a family health emergency.
