Hewitt-Trussville's Corey Goguts wins ASWA Miss. Softball 2026 award

JACKSONVILLE — Corey Goguts was named the Miss. Softball for the 2026 Alabama high school softball season.

Goguts was named the winner during the Alabama Sports Writers Association 2026 summer conference at Jacksonville State University. Goguts hit for .618 with 29 home runs, 94 hits and 91 RBIs.
Corey Goguts from Hewitt-Trussville (7A), Myleigh Dobbins from Saraland (6A), McKinley McCaghren of Lawrence County (5A), Katie King of Orange Beach (4A), Emily Needham from Saint James (3A) Harper Myers from Lamar County (2A), Braylynn Pope of Hackleburg (1A) and Kennedy Childers of Bessemer Academy (AISA) all won player of the year honors.
Last year, Curry's Ambrey Taylor won the Miss Softball award after hitting .597 with an OPS of 1.929. She had 36 doubles and 24 home runs. Taylor started 33 games for Alabama softball this season.
