Six Employees Of Western Railway Felicitated With General Manager’s Safety Award

Ramashray Pandey, General Manager, Western Railway, felicitated six employees with the General Manager's "Man of the Month" Safety Award for April 2026 at the Western Railway Headquarters, Mumbai. These employees were recognised for their exemplary alertness, dedication and commitment to duty, which played a vital role in preventing potential untoward incidents and ensuring safe train operations. The awardees included two employees each from Mumbai Central and Vadodara Divisions and one employee each from Ahmedabad and Rajkot Divisions.

Goods Train Manager and Sanjay Kumar, Fitter were honoured for their exceptional vigilance and prompt action.
One such notable instance of Vikas Kumar’s alertness and devotion to duty occurred while he was taking charge of a goods train at Bhusaval station. During examination of the train, he noticed smoke emanating from a loaded coal wagon and immediately informed the concerned officials. He also suggested detaching the affected wagon and actively assisted in extinguishing the fire. His timely action prevented the fire from spreading to the entire train, thereby safeguarding valuable railway property and averting a major mishap.
Another noteworthy instance of vigilance and alertness was by Sanjay Kumar, who during the rolling-in examination of a freight train at Vasai Road detected unusual sounds from the wheels of a wagon and, upon further inspection, serious wheel defects and flat places were identified. The wagon was immediately marked sick and the defective wheels were replaced. His vigilance helped prevent a possible accident and ensured safe train operations.
Employees from other divisions were also felicitated for their exemplary presence of mind and swift response in identifying and addressing safety hazards. Their commendable actions included ensuring safety compliance, preventing damage to overhead equipment through timely action, detecting critical defects in rolling stock and identifying rail fractures during track inspection. Their prompt interventions significantly contributed to maintaining operational safety across the Western Railway network.
