During his two-season spell there, he spent the first half of last term on loan with Kidderminster Harriers in National League North, playing under Barrow boss Adam Murray.
His temporary move ended before Harriers went on to clinch promotion via the play-offs.
"PK's game suits the way that we want to play. He's a really physical, aggressive, ball-winning defender," assistant boss Andy Taylor said.
"He's used to playing the way the gaffer wants to play, which I think is a big plus."
Kalambayi is the ninth new signing this summer for the Bluebirds and the second to have played for Kidderminster after the arrival of defender George Walker.
Strikers Alex Reid and Olly Crankshaw, full-backs Marcel Oakley and Danny Amos as well as defenders Kennedy Digie and Xavier Benjamin and midfielder Isaac Marriott.
