Just one day after making a trade with the New York Mets for left-hander David Peterson, the Chicago Cubs have made a corresponding roster move.

According to an announcement from the Cubs, the NL Central club has designated right-hander Yosver Zuleta for assignment.

Zuleta's spot on Chicago's roster goes to Peterson. This is the 28-year-old's third DFA of the season, as he was previously with the Cincinnati Reds and Seattle Mariners

He did not make an appearance at the Major League level with the Cubs. Instead, he allowed a whopping six earned runs in 2.1 innings across two relief outings at Triple-A Iowa.

From 2024-25, Zuleta made 19 appearances with the Reds, posting a 5.32 ERA with 25 strikeouts and 11 walks in 23.2 innings.

"Zuleta generates plenty of grounders (54%) and averages better than 97 mph on his four-seamer, although it’s his sinker (96.2 mph average) that headlines a four-pitch arsenal," Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors wrote about Zuleta's pitch arsenal.

"He also mixes in an 87 mph slider and a seldom-used 89 mph changeup."

He's quickly turned into a journeyman minor leaguer, having already spent time with four different organizations since signing with the Toronto Blue Jays as an international free agent from Cuba.
