EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY - JUNE 22: Erling Haaland #9 of Norway celebrates after the 3-2 win during the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group I match between Norway and Senegal at New York New Jersey Stadium on June 22, 2026 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Buda Mendes/Getty Images) | Getty Images

Yesterday saw Groups D, E, and F wrap up. Germany opened the scoring against Ecuador in the second minute, but Ecuador equalized seven minutes later and got a winner in the 77th. Germany still won Group E, but the three points vaulted Ecuador into third place, keeping them alive (for now, depending on other third-place finishers). Ivory Coast got goals from Nicolas Pépé seven minutes in and again in the second half to find a 2-0 win over Curaçao, who are eliminated, and the win ensured second place for Côte d’Ivoire.

The Netherlands opened the scoring early, with goals in the 3rd and 7th minutes to quickly put Tunisia to the sword. Tunisia did manage a goal early in the second half, only for the Dutch to respond a few minutes later to finish with a 3-1 win. Netherlands finish top of Group F and Tunisia are eliminated. Japan and Sweden went into halftime 0-0, and Daizen Maeda put Japan ahead in the 56th minute, but Anthony Elanga answered for Sweden 6 minutes later, and that one finished 1-1, with Japan in second place, and Sweden in third, on 4 points.

Today, Groups G, H, and I will play their last games. We have a tasty one to start things off with Erling Haaland and Norway meeting Kylian Mbappé, Michael Olise, and France, as Sadio Mané and Senegal face Iraq at the same time.

The second group of fixtures is another strong matchup of Uruguay against Spain (although Uruguay have showed some cracks in this tournament and may not be up for it), and Cape Verde meets Saudi Arabia, looking to extend their Cinderella run. The late games are Belgium against New Zealand, and Egypt against Iran.

So, what will the games have in store for us today? Stick around, drop your comments, and have a great time.
