The San Antonio Spurs are approaching this offseason with a more aggressive mindset than in previous years. After surpassing expectations by reaching the 2026 NBA Finals behind an MVP-level season from Victor Wembanyama, the organization appears ready to accelerate its pursuit of a championship rather than continue a patient rebuilding process.

As the Spurs explore ways to strengthen their roster, they have emerged as one of the teams linked to Los Angeles Clippers forward John Collins. According to Clutch Points insider Brett Siegel, San Antonio and the Chicago Bulls are among the franchises that have consistently surfaced in league conversations as serious suitors for the veteran forward.

"There has been some talk of Collins being linked to the Timberwolves, but after trading for LaMelo, Minnesota won't be able to offer the recent LA Clippers forward what other teams can. Sources say the Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs are two prominent teams frequently mentioned among league circles as suitors for Collins,” the report read.

For San Antonio, every personnel decision continues to revolve around maximizing Victor Wembanyama's strengths. League evaluators believe Collins could be an ideal frontcourt partner due to his versatility, athleticism, and ability to play either power forward or center.

However, there are still legitimate concerns surrounding a potential fit. Collins’ inconsistent three-point shooting and average rim protection could fall short of the Spurs' ideal blueprint.

Fortunately for the Spurs, they possess significant salary-cap flexibility entering the offseason. That financial advantage gives the front office multiple pathways to construct a competitive offer if it ultimately decides Collins is the right addition to complement Wembanyama.
