ESPN unsurprisingly sees untapped potential in Jets' offensive weapons

For years, playmakers Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall have felt like stars trapped inside a rebuilding project. The New York Jets have cycled through quarterbacks, coaches, and offensive philosophies during the early portions of both players' careers.
Despite those obstacles, Wilson and Hall have consistently flashed the type of talent capable of carrying an offense.

ESPN's Bill Barnwell appears to have noticed. In his ranking of the NFL's skill groups entering the 2026 season (running backs, wide receivers, tight ends), he placed the Jets 12th overall. That's a massive improvement from last year's ranking and a sign that national observers believe New York's offense is finally trending in the right direction.
Wilson remains the headliner. Barnwell argued that the former first-round selection has spent much of his career overcoming difficult circumstances. He even suggested the best quarterback Wilson had played with before Geno Smith was a late-career version of Joe Flacco.
That's hardly ideal for a receiver many believe possesses All-Pro potential. Hall earned praise as well. After overcoming the effects of his ACL injury, he returned to his previous form and earned an extension in the process. He has once again established himself as one of the league's better dual-threat running backs. His ability as a receiver out of the backfield remains among the most dangerous elements of New York's offense.
The supporting cast also received favorable reviews. Rookie Omar Cooper Jr., Adonai Mitchell, Mason Taylor, and Kenyon Sadiq were all mentioned as reasons for optimism. Barnwell believes the Jets have quietly assembled one of their deepest collections of offensive skill talent in years.
Perhaps the most telling part of his evaluation came when he asked readers to imagine this group playing with Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. That's obviously not happening, but the point is clear. The Jets finally have enough offensive talent to generate excitement. Now, the question becomes whether Geno Smith and Frank Reich can help unlock it.
