Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev plans to top UFC Baku 8-second masterpiece

· Yahoo Sports

Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev met the media Saturday after his win over Julius Walker at UFC Fight Night 280.

Yakhyaev (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) needed just eight seconds to knock out Walker (7-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC) on the preliminary card at National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, Azerbaijan. Had Yakhyaev just landed his one punch and not gone to the canvas for the finish, the stoppage may have come in as little as five or six seconds.

As it stands, the KO is tied for the seventh fastest in UFC history, but Yakhyaev thinks he'll top it next time out.

"Next time, the fight will be shorter, so be ready, guys" Yakhyaev told the UFC after the fight. "I think I'm ready for top 10, top five – it doesn't matter. I'll sit with my coach and team and talk about it and let the UFC know."

Yakhyaev was a 6-1 favorite in the fight. The 25-year-old has all but one of his wins in the first round. His four fights combined in the UFC and DWCS have averaged just 61 seconds.
