Big Walnut’s Sydney Mobley announced her commitment to OSU on July 3, choosing the Buckeyes over Illinois and Virginia Tech. She will graduate early, starting her college career this fall, her father David confirmed to The Dispatch.
Sydney Mobley, who originally was to be a senior this coming school year, is a 6-2 forward and five-star recruit.
David Mobley said his daughter completed her last high-school course “a week ago” and “has met all requirements to graduate early.”
Sydney Mobley averaged 20.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 2.3 assists and 1.5 blocks in leading the Golden Eagles to their second consecutive Division II state tournament. Named both district and state Player of the Year and first-team all-state for the third year in a row, Mobley is central Ohio’s first Ms. Basketball since 2003.
Mobley drew more than 40 college offers and was ranked as the No. 16 overall prospect and No. 5 forward in the 2027 class by Rivals, and No. 4 forward and 23rd overall prospect by 247Sports.
Mobley, who played her freshman year at Olentangy and the past two at Big Walnut, finished high school with 1,508 career points, 835 rebounds, 228 assists, 186 steals and 145 blocks. She is a first cousin of Ohio State men’s standout John Mobley Jr.
