The Tennessee Titans recorded just six interceptions during the 2025 season. That was tied for second-lowest in the league with the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. Only the New York Jets had fewer INT’s than the Titans with a historic zero picks.

Veteran linebacker Cody Barton led the defense with three interceptions. He’s not exactly known for creating turnovers. The other two Titans who had interceptions, Xavier Woods and Roger McCreary, are no longer here.

The defense also ranked 23rd in passing yards allowed. It’s not surprising the Titans made sweeping changes in the secondary, given the results. Woods was released at safety, and sophomore Kevin Winston Jr. has been promoted to starter. Alontae Taylor and Cor’Dale Flott were signed in free agency to be the new starting boundary cornerbacks. Marcus Harris is expected to play the nickel. Tony Adams and Joshua Williams are new additions, too.

Will one of these new additions lead the Titans in interceptions? Taylor has just four career picks in four seasons. Flott has three career interceptions (one apiece in three consecutive campaigns).

The most likely candidate to lead the Titans in interceptions during the 2026 season is veteran safety Amani Hooker. Hooker surprisingly had zero interceptions in 2025 after having a career-high five in 2024. The former Iowa standout has 12 career picks in seven seasons.

Hooker was negatively impacted by his surroundings last season. He expected to have support in the secondary from Jarvis Brownlee, L’Jarius Sneed, and McCreary. By midseason, two of them had been traded, and the other was on IR again.

Hooker should benefit from having more reliability at cornerback. The Titans are also excited about pairing him with Winston at safety. Furthermore, new head coach Robert Saleh will employ an aggressive front seven with Jeffery Simmons and John Franklin-Myers. Hopefully the defensive line forces opposing quarterbacks into some bad decisions.

The Titans defense must generate more takeaways than they did last season (14, tied for fourth-worst in the NFL). There’s lots of new faces in the secondary, but the reliable Hooker should be considered the favorite to have the team’s most interceptions. We’re expecting a bounce-back year for Hooker.
