Czech star Karolina Muchova has ascended to be among the best women's tennis players in the world, with three WTA singles wins and an appearance at the 2023 French Open finals to go along with semifinal berths at other Grand Slams.

During a second-round match at the 2026 U.S. Open, she was tearful and had to stop for a moment before resuming. Why? Per The Athletic, "She later said that she had spotted an ex-boyfriend in the crowd, who she said has a history of showing up 'at places where he shouldn’t be.'"
"That startled me a bit," she told the publication. "I told him to leave, he didn’t, but later he did go. It was hard to focus in that moment.”
