Jaguars insider with insight into Travis Hunter's training camp availability

Travis Hunter may be fully cleared for the start of Jacksonville Jaguars' training camp in a few weeks, but that doesn't mean he will be a full go right away.

Cameron Wolfe on the NFL Network recently reported that Hunter will be ready for training camp. However, Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union added a caveat and some additional insight into Hunter's availability.

"Fully-cleared" won't mean "full-go" at start of camp," O'Halloran posted on X. "Interally, the expectation is his snaps will likely be managed early on because it will be his first team work since Oct. 30, 2025."

O'Halloran added that the Jaguars' goal is for Hunter to be ready for the team's Week 1 matchup with the Browns on Sept. 13, not their preseason game on Aug. 15 with the Saints.

Hunter did not participate in the on-field work during the offseason programs as he continues to rehab, but to keep Hunter sharp and involved, he spent time each day in the Jaguars' virtual room. This allowed him to get mental reps from the wide receivers' and defensive backs' perspective on the field. 

In Wolfe's report, he added that Hunter was already running over 20 mph, cutting, and is in "great shape."

The Jaguars will continue to utilize Hunter on both sides of the ball as well. The expectation is that he will start at cornerback, while also seeing playing time at wide receiver, although those snaps could ebb and flow, depending on the week-to-week matchups and in-game situations.
