Teen allegedly stabbed by cousin after argument over R200 in KZN

An 18-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 17-year-old cousin twice during an argument over a missing R200 in Mountview, KwaZulu-Natal, leaving the teenager in hospital.
The incident happened on Jacaranda Avenue on Thursday.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said its Operations Centre received several calls from members of the public requesting urgent medical assistance.
Reaction Officers and RUSA Paramedics rushed to the scene and found the injured teenager sitting on the roadside.
Argument turns violent

RUSA said the teenager suffered two stab wounds.
“He had sustained two stab wounds, one to his left shoulder extending towards his chest and another to the left side of his back,” the organisation said.
According to the injured teenager, he was standing with friends when his 18-year-old cousin confronted him and accused him of stealing R200 the previous night.
The argument allegedly escalated, and the suspect picked up a broken piece of glass and stabbed the teenager twice before trying to run away.
The victim also claimed his cousin had lost the money while gambling the previous night and was under the influence of drugs.
Suspect disputes allegations
The 18-year-old gave police a different account of what happened.
He alleged that the victim had stolen R200 and a packet of Rizla rolling papers from him.
Police are expected to investigate both versions of events.
Community members caught the suspect as he allegedly tried to flee the scene.
Reaction Officers restrained him when they arrived before handing him over to Verulam SAPS for further investigation.
